SAG Awards Red Carpet

Award shows are a fashion bloggers dream. It gives us a chance to feel like Joan Rivers and criticize or praise any celebrity's wardrobe choice. Tonight is the SAG Awards and even though I cant watch it, I can keep up with all of the red carpet looks online via US Weekly and CBS News. What I'm seeing here is an overabundance of side parts, strapless gowns, vintage inspired silhouettes, and belts. I wasn't overly impressed by the red carpet style this year but I'll still name some of my favorites.

When it comes to the red carpet, Jessica Chastain can do no wrong. She always manages to look effortlessly stunning and this dress is no exception. So simple yet so beautiful.

Tina Fey is one of my favorite women and I was so excited to see pictures of her on the red carpet tonight. That dress makes her body look great and the retro hairstyle polishes off the look. She may be goofy but in a gown like this, you have to take her seriously.

I was torn on whether I like this dress or not but after really looking at it, it grew on me. Ariel Winters took a big risk when she wore a dress like this because 3/4 sheer sleeves isn't exactly common on the red carpet. I love the sweet, girly appeal it has and she pulled it off well.

Wow! Look at Amy Poehler. I love everything about this gown. You can never go wrong with black and the details down the skirt give it a slimming effect and a streamlined appearance.

Victoria Justice's gown is most definitely one of my favorites. I love the simple, mature, t-shirt like shape and the lace cutout detail on the bodice. The color is exquisite and I love the minimal use of jewelry.

I immediately loved this dress when I saw it. It's daring and sexy. I love how it's a refined, grown up wrap dress. Julianna Margulies looks great.

This was another one of my favorites. Naya Rivera looks fantastic. The sheer paneling and the trumpet-style skirt is such a beautiful combination.

Katrina Bowden's dress on the red carpet was most definitely a stunner. The color, intricate detailing, and tulle skirt really made her stand out.

OK Barbie and Ken, and I say that with love and admiration. Lea Michele literally looks perfect in this hot pink  strapless gown. I mean, I really think my barbie doll had that exact dress. Cory Monteith looks dapper as usual in his grey and black suit which has a younger twist with the skinny tie.

Last but not least, everyone loves Sally Fields! This purple number looks fantastic on her. The fabric flowers on the bust make it fun and youthful. I bet you couldn't guess her age!

Well now that I've addressed the good, I have to address the bad. Here's my worst dressed list.

Alec Baldwin's hair seems to be the talk of the town tonight. I have nothing against his suit but it looks like he's trying a little too hard to look like Justin Bieber. Ps, the sides of his hair are grey and the top is brown. I don't think his hairstylist had enough dye to finish the whole thing. Trendsetting possibly?

Sometimes cotton candy is a good thing. In this case, Shaun Robinson looks like an 80's aerobic instructor.

The side boob speaks for itself. Dear Michelle Dockery, there IS such a thing as too much.

I'm not really sure who Gabrielle Carteris is, but it looks like she's wearing a 30 dollar prom dress from Belk and what African women swaddle their babies in.

Alright Jay Manuel, the hair...it's just gotta go. That suit coat as well. Thank me later.

And last of the worst dressed is Nancy O'Dell. Her body looks fantastic but that gown is god awful. She looks like a cross between Spock from Star Trek and Jane Jetson.

Well that's it for my red carpet analysis for the 2013 SAG awards...This is only the beginning of award show season so be looking out for more of these!

Topic of Discussion: Bean Boots

I remember back in 2006 when I was 10 years old, my mom bought my sister a pair of tweed and rabbit fur lined duck boots for Christmas. I oohed and aahed over them for years and continuously bothered her about when she was going to hand them down to me. I don't know if she still has them but I'm definitely still dreaming about them. They were made by J. Crew and they were absolutely beautiful. If you don't know what duck boots are, here's a pretty basic example: the original, L.L. Bean duck boots

I'm a big fan of the rugged, outdoorsy look and these boots are the epitome of rugged and outdoorsy. Lately I've seen some bloggers style these and I love the newfound interest everyone has in them. The pair my sister had were black and white tweed and the rain boot part was army green. They were also lined with light grey rabbit fur which gave them a luxurious feel and made them that much more swoon worthy.

I've been eyeing a pair from the Sperry website for a while now. They are pretty much giving them away for the $69.99 sale price.

They're nice, right? I think this is the only time when I would be 100% okay with looking like a lumberjack. They're fleece lined so they're extra warm as well.

This is the first picture I saw of a blogger wearing a pair of duck boots.

She looks so cozy!

Look, there's even duck boots on the runway!

They may seem kind of challenging to style, but seriously just throw on something that makes you feel like you live in a log cabin and you're good to go.

xx Lucy
